Power of Prayer | Day Three

By: Callie Clayton

Today we will look at one of my favorite verses in all of Scripture! There are a lot of great promising truths, so let’s not waste any time! As you open God’s Word to Hebrews 4:14-16, ask God to give you wisdom and understanding.

Read Hebrews 4:14-16.

What phrases are used to describe Jesus in verses 14-15?

What is the purpose of the high priest according to Hebrews 5:1?

The high priest was appointed to be an advocate for the people, going to God on their behalf offering sacrifices and seeking God’s forgiveness for the sins of the people.

How is Jesus able to “sympathize with our weakness” (Heb. 4:15) in a way that’s different than any other high priest?

Re-read Hebrews 4:16. How are we supposed to approach God’s throne?

Are you ever hesitant or afraid to approach God about something?

If you answered yes, why do you feel hesitant?

How has this verse changed your view of prayer?

How does it make you feel to know that you can boldly and confidently approach God?

Are you living in a time of need?

If yes, what do you need right now? What do you need to ask God to provide you?

These verses are so encouraging to me because it lets me know that our God is approachable! He’s not directing your life from above, He is a part of it! Jesus experienced everything while He was here on earth. He was tempted in every way, so He knows exactly how you are feeling. However, He never once gave in to sin! So He can give you the strength and wisdom you need to withstand every situation you face!

Let’s be thankful today that our God has a made a way for you and me to talk directly to Him! Be honest with God about the difficulties you face today. Ask Him to show you His mercy and grace as you ask for forgiveness for a wrong decision.
